Your Life Your Way

The council has launched Your Life Your Way, a website hub featuring a vast range of information on how to stay independent and access support for both carers and East Riding residents. The website will help people self-serve and enable anyone to get timely advice. This enhances the personal touch, giving choice and control to residents.

Visitors to the website will find guidance on staying active and independent. If you have any care needs there are contact details for vital services and information on how to access the technology available through our lifeline service that can support independence. You will also find:

  • Advice and support for any stage of your adult social care journey
  • Information and help to stay active and look after yourself
  • Information on over 300 local groups and activities
  • Local community and care services
  • Personal budgets, payments, and a benefits calculator
  • Help to work out what you need to pay towards care
  • Support for carers including a FREE Carers UK digital resource
  • Lifeline, aids, equipment, and adaptations

We understand that for most people, staying independent is important to ensure you live a happy and fulfilling life. Your Life Your Way provides the information and guidance to get you the right support at the right time.

Your Life Your Way

 

The government's Household Support Fund will help vulnerable households with the rising cost of heating oil. As a result, Humber and Wolds Rural Action (HWRA) have been awarded funding from East Riding Council to offer grants to eligible residents in East Yorkshire.

 

On application if eligible, households will receive an oil delivery of approx. 500 litres and free membership to the YORSwitch Bulk Oil Buying Scheme for the year. (normally £20 per year).

COMMUNITY RENEWABLE ENERGY

The parish Council has completed their feasibility study to providing a source of renewable energy within the Parish. the final project reports are available and can be viewed on the parish information page under the renewable energy heading. East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group 

Current minor injury units at Bridlington and Driffield have changed.

​Alfred Bean Hospital has become an 8 to 8 centre open daily from 8.00am to 8.00pm.  You cannot simply walk in but need to contact NHS 111 who will book an appointment if necessary.

​Alfred Bean will continue to provide planned, non urgent care for local people.

​Your nearest URGENT TREATMENT CENTRE is Bridlington & District Community Hospital which is open daily 7am - 11.00pm

​There is also an Urgent Treatment Centre in Beverley.

INEOS Fracking & YOU

​You may not know but you live in a Petroleum Exploration and Development License are licensed to multinational chemical companies. INEOS plan to start seismic testing and exploratory drilling in the area.  Fracking has been banned in Scotland, Ireland, France and some states in the USA and Australia due to environmental and health concerns.

​Defibrillator

The Parish Council are please to announce that thanks to a funding grant from the British Heart Foundation, plus a kind donation from Thwing Amenities Committee we have purchased defibrillators and push call rescue pack. The defibrillator is sited at the telephone kiosk on Main Street in Thwing, plus a second one on the first lamp pole down  from the junction of Octon Road and Octon Grange Lane.

If you are interested in learning how to use the call push rescue system (cpr) and defibrillator please get in touch. A training session will cover opening the airways, clearing the airways, cpr and operating a defibrillator.
